Private by design

Your photo never leaves your device β€” cropping and export happen entirely in your browser.

Photo requirements can change. Always double-check the official rules for the country you're applying to.

What is ExactCrop?

ExactCrop is a free tool for cutting a photo down to the exact size a passport, visa or ID application asks for β€” 2Γ—2 in for the United States, 35Γ—45 mm for the UK and the Schengen countries, 33Γ—48 mm for China, and 19 official sizes in total. Choose your photo, pick the size, then zoom and drag until the head sits the way that country's rules require. The export is written at true print resolution, 300 or 600 ppi, so the picture measures exactly what the rules describe when it comes off the printer.

Everything happens inside your browser. Your photo is never uploaded anywhere, there is no account and no sign-up, and once the page has loaded it keeps working with no connection. It runs the same way on a phone, a tablet and a desktop, and it can be installed as an app.

  • Every official size is a preset, so the shape and the pixel count come from the published figure instead of a free-hand crop.
  • Each country guide lists the head height, background colour, expression rules and digital file limits, and links to the government page it came from.
  • Print sheets fit several copies of one photo onto a 4Γ—6 in, 5Γ—7 in or A4 page, with optional cutting guides and a margin watermark.
