Brazil passport and visa photo requirements
Brazilian passports use a 5×7 cm colour photo on a white background. Domestic identity documents use a smaller 3×4 cm format, so check which document you are applying for before you crop.

What the photo must show
- Photo age. Taken within the last 6 months.
- Expression. Neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and visible, no smiling.
- Glasses. Not permitted in passport photos — tinted or reflective lenses are refused.
- Headwear. Not allowed except for religious or medical reasons, and the face must stay visible.
- Framing. Front-facing, head and shoulders, face centred, no other people or objects in the frame.
- Print. High-quality colour print on glossy photographic paper, without folds or marks.
Common reasons photos get rejected
- A shadow behind the head or a grey background instead of white.
- A selfie, a cropped group photo, or a photo with a visible arm.
- Low-resolution prints that look pixelated on the face.
- Photos with filters, skin smoothing or a changed background.
